In
most environmental design scenarios, the "expert" designers plan the space.
When they have finished their work, the builders construct it--often without
completely understanding the original design, or without being able to
raise significant practical questions that come up during the construction.
Last, the users occupy the building and "make do" with whatever is there.
They often have to reconfigure the space to meet their needs and that reconfiguration
is far from optimum, with "solutions" that need not have been devised if
their needs had been considered in the first place.
Athenaeum International provides the opportunity for clients to work actively on the design of their environments from the beginning. If you are interested in a small individual home office , you can use this handy planner to "play" with ideas. If you are interested in a larger environment, contact us at webadmin@aiboulder.com or at 303.415.2092 so we can help you play with a design specific for your space.
Instructions
This experimental page was done in DHTML with Java-Script, a relatively new technology. Only Netscape 4.0 and Internet Explorer 4.0 Browsers may see this web page at the present time, but as soon as the technology becomes available, we will make it useable by all. Please allow time for the page to completely download before you begin to use it.
To simplify the program for you, the "environment" available to design is square, and there are several configurations of furniture that you can move into it. You cannot change or rotate these configurations. However, there are multiple copies of each element which you can use in your arrangement. AI offers individual furniture elements that can be arranged in thousands of configurations. This page illustrates only the most popular of those. Keep an eye open for additions to the page later.
On a PC, just click on an image and drag it to where you want while holding down on the mouse button. Let go and the image will stay there. You will be able to see the image move along with your Mouse.
On a Mac, you will not see the image move with your mouse. As soon as you let go of the mouse button, the image will appear wherever the mouse is. You may have to wait for the web page to completely download and then reload the page after you make changes.
Make sure that there is not an image overlapping the image that you are trying to pick up. All of these images are square, so even the curved wall image can extend beyond the image itself. If you have difficulty "picking up" and image, click around tit to see if you are hitting another image by accident.
As noted above, this is an experimental page and will be developed further in the future. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please e-mail webmaster@aiboulder.com.
