Network and Server:
The First Dimension
Network. The first dimension of a productive computing environment is a reliable and fast network. This builds the infrastructure of the computing and data transfer process. The network design must be versatile with sufficient outlets to provide enough coverage for the work that needs to be done by multiple workers in a mobile environment. This will allow for movement of the workstations. It should be built with some redundancy to insure as little down time as possible. It is also good planning to have extra equipment on hand to swap out in case of a failure.  The advanced network should be able to handle video conferencing as well as the day-to-day data transfer.

Server. The heart of the network is a powerful server. The server has many different functions on a network. It acts as a fill storage unit as well as serving multi-user application. The server is also responsible for keeping the individual computersí IP address. This function is very important in a dynamically changing environment. It can also aid the printing process, keeping the Que strait and allowing for load balancing. A server that is on a network that is connected to the Internet can also be used as a web server. This is very handy for high accessibility of Internet publications that may be generated in this type of environment. Together, the server and the network can make or break an efficient work environment.
