Athenaeum
International provides the opportunity for clients to engage
actively in the design of their environments in order to create
substantial performance improvements that suit the needs of each
individual.
We
make it essential that 21st Century individuals and organizations
have an environment that challenges them to reach their potential
and that of their enterprise. Evolving and creating client environments
that match the pace of the Information Age.
To
design a 21st century environment; the designer must see and
communicate, through the environment, the conscious ability to evolve.
Neither patched-up fixes nor wholesale redesign will suffice in
today's rapidly changing workplaces. As the people within the work
environment expand their horizons, even as the initial environment
is being built, so too must the environment expand its ability to
serve. Individual elements must be created which can be replaced,
when outgrown, with new elements which still complement the entire
system.
Frank
Lloyd Wright’s approach to design formation was
to combine architectural, construction and engineering skills
with the needs of the client to create something greater than
either the professionals or the client could create alone.
Wright’s philosophy was that the building should help the
client become what they could be, a quality the client was
never able to articulate at the outset. Design Formation should
bring in the qualities of invention, exploration, shared discovery,
the process of something being brought to life, and the thing
itself. The
Design Formation model is a model about modeling, iterating,
and using feedback continuously to inform and reform the plan.
In both architecture and transition management, the final
product should broaden, expand, challenge, push and recreate
the original program. |
Based
on traditional design/build project management, Athenaeum International
includes one aspect that is key to its difference: constant feedback
that informs the project and requires the vision to be rebuilt at
many different levels. MG Taylor's
Design-Build-Use model inspires our methods, allowing us to
work throughout the project with clients and contractors to offer
the best possible design solutions. This method extends after the
initial construction period to the ability to work with clients
to continuously update the environment and to educate client knowledge
workers in the practices that make optimum use of the environment.
